Out can be used in the following ways: out 有以下用法
as an adverb: 用作副詞: We went out into the garden. 我們出去到了花園裏。 He took out a penknife. 他拿出一把袖珍折刀。
after the verb ‘to be': 用於動詞to be 後: You were out when I called. 我打電話給你的時候你出去了。 The house was silent and all the lights were out. 屋裏靜悄悄的,燈全滅了。
in the preposition phrase out of: 用在介詞短語out of 中: I got out of bed and went downstairs. 我下了床到樓下去。 In American English and spoken British English out itself is commonly used as a preposition, but many British people consider that this use is not correct: 在美國英語和英國英語口語中,out 本身常用作介詞,但許多英國人認爲這種用法不正確: I looked out the window. 我往窗外望去。
